No Child Left Behind (NCLB) is designed to improve student success and change the way America’s schools work. The program’s goal is to help improve school performance by making the states, school districts and schools more accountable. It is built on four “pillars”: accountability for results; an emphasis on doing what works based on scientific research; expanded parental options; and expanded local control and flexibility.
